PUBLIC HEALTH

Public health is the science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life, and promoting health through the organised efforts of society. Public health addresses the determinants of health and develops strategies to improve the health and wellbeing of populations.  In fact, public health underpins almost everything we do to improve the health of a population.

Public Health professionals work in variety of different areas such as developing health policy, research, fighting disease outbreaks, disaster relief, health systems strengthening and health promotion.  Skills and knowledge in public health is useful for people in range of disciplines including health professionals, aid workers or anyone working to improve the health of a population and reduce health disparities.
